Prior to an infant's baptism, the parents (or expectant parents) attend a programme of five sessions led by the priests and catechists from the parish. Programmes are offered twice a year in the Autumn and Spring. Baptisms take place after the completion of all the sessions, usually at 3.30pm on a Sunday.
For children of catechetical age, seven years and above, an individual programme of preparation can be arranged.
First Reconciliation and Holy Communion
Children in Year 3 and above are considered ready to receive Holy Communion. The preparation for families begins in November, with the children’s lessons starting in January. Reconciliation is received during Holy Week and First Holy Communion in June. The programme includes meetings for parents/carers to enable them to give further support to their children.
The Bishop comes by invitation from the parish typically about every three years to confirm candidates - who are usually of secondary school age. Those who wish to be confirmed attend a preparation programme in the preceding months.
Normally couples intending to marry should give at least six months notice. We run a parish-based three session programme, led by the priest and married couples; and recommend attendance at an external course as well.
The Sacrament of reconciliation is available on weekdays from 12noon until 12:45pm and Saturday 11:00am until 11:45am
Anointing of the Sick
We offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick on an individual basis as required, please speak to one of our priests. There is also a parish Anointing service every year.
Men interested in learning more about life as a priest, please contact the Vocation Director and Vocations Director Fr Neil Peoples and Fr Liam Carpenter firstname.lastname@example.org
